ExCeL London hosts largest Project Griffin Seminar

20 April 2015

ExCeL London working in partnership with the Metropolitan Police.

A ground-breaking security seminar attended by nearly 600 senior representatives from the police service, event organisers, local businesses and the ExCeL London team.

ExCeL London, the home of world-leading events, hosted a free attend seminar including presentations from specialist police officers, to raise awareness of security threats and crime prevention. The objective was to ensure that every member of the team, whether directly employed by ExCeL, a service partner, a business located on the ExCeL estate or an organiser is familiar with security protocol and understands the importance of reporting inconsistent behaviour.

The event has established an official and direct channel through which the police will continue to share and update vital information relating to security and crime prevention.

The partnership is part of a wider programme of engagement that includes an on-site police station and regular engagement with the Safer Neighbourhood Scheme.

David Pegler, CEO of ExCeL London said: "The security of our visitors is our top priority.  Each event has a risk profile that we plan for with organisers, analysing historic data along with the interpretation of the most up-to-date intelligence to ensure a smooth and safe event outcome. Working in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service puts us at the forefront of intelligence gathering and security practices."
