From 1st October ExCeL London will offer visitors free Wi-Fi across the venue. This year ExCeL has invested significantly in upgrading its Wi-Fi infrastructure to Ruckus to ensure it offers the latest technology available. Previously this free service was limited to the boulevard.
Following extensive consultation with our customers, ExCeL has further invested in its Wi-Fi infrastructure to extend the service across the whole venue. This means that visitors will now be able to stay in touch with their office on email and access social media wherever they are in the venue.
Commenting on the new service, Brian Cole, Operations Director, ExCeL London: "Over the last year we have been attracting some of the world's leading events from exhibitions through to major corporates and international congresses, particularly in the technology sector. In fact, in 2014 we will host more technology events than any other venue in Europe. We have therefore been working with these major technology events over the last 6 months to ensure we offer the best IT infrastructure to meet the needs of their events but also consulting with all our customers to find out the needs of their visitors, exhibitors and delegates with regards to their internet requirements. As a result we are now introducing a basic free Wi-Fi service across the public and event spaces. Unlike some other venues, once visitors register they will be able to get continuous free Wi-Fi for the duration of the event."
Cole further adds: "With the rapid growth of hybrid events and social media, particularly Twitter and Facebook, our customers want to engage in real time and broadcast to a wider audience, as well as integrate it into their events. Social media has become a core part of business and an effective marketing channel for many and so this new service will now enable our customers to access this wherever they are in the venue to bring their event experience to life, network and share information and photos."
In addition, ExCeL London has also invested £7 million in its expansive IT network infrastructure for customers who purchase supported cabled connections to ensure we offer a superior quality, uninterrupted solution for higher technology requirements.
