First super show at ExCeL cruises to success

The beginning of January saw ExCeL London create and host its largest constellation of consumer shows - a new launch, relocation and growth of an existing event.

The first Super Show - the Tullet Prebon London International Boat Show, The Outdoor Show and the Bike Show together - was seen as a huge success by organisers and visitors. The Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show returned to the venue 8% bigger than in 2010, with visitor numbers up by 7% taking the total number of visitors who attended the event up to 109,778 over 10 days.

The Show took advantage of ExCeL London's phase two extension to build a brand new 80mx30m Watersports Action Pool in the ICC Capital Hall where visitors could have a go at sports such as wakeboarding , kayaking and dingy sailing. The 15 metre height of the brand new ICC Auditorium also enabled the show to feature larger boats inside the venue for the first time, including the Princess 32M - the biggest boat ever to be displayed inside the halls of ExCeL London. In total, over 1,000 boats were exhibited at the show.

Commenting on the success of the show, Andrew Williams, Managing Director of NBS: "The proactive approach taken by ExCeL London in working with us to create this super show has really paid off and received high acclaim from both our exhibitors and visitors. Coupled with the flexibility of the new space in phase 2, it has meant that we have been able to refresh the show and create really interesting new features, as well as engage with a new audience."

In addition to the Boat Show, the venue also hosted The Outdoor Show which had relocated from the NEC and the newly launched London Bike Show. Both events are organised by VOS Media.

 

The Outdoor Show and London Bike Show between them attracted over 30,000 visitors taking the total number of visitors to all 3 events to over 140,000.
