Naidex South draws inspiration from the London 2012 Paralympics

Building on last year's successful launch, Naidex South will be returning to ExCeL London.

Building on last year's successful launch, Naidex South will be returning to ExCeL London on 19th - 20th October. This year the organisers are taking inspiration from the 2012 Paralympics, which will have a strong influence on the development of the show.

Naidex South will be launching various new features related to the Games. One such feature is the Paralympic Sports Showcase which is being sponsored by RGK Wheelchairs Ltd. and will celebrate the talents of disabled athletes. The showcase will also encourage visitors to get involved in sports by offering live demonstrations and information on local clubs they can contact after the show.

Event Director Liz Virgo commented: "We are delighted to be adding this new feature to Naidex South and intend to make it a source of inspiration to all our visitors. Not only will it showcase the Paralympic sports that will be seen during the 2012 Games but it will do so in the venue where the athletes will actually be competing! The timing is perfect, as it will capture the excitement of London 2012 at a time when tickets for the Paralympics go on sale, so there is sure to be a huge buzz about the Paralympic Sports Showcase feature."

The Paralympic Sports Showcase will introduce visitors to some of the 20 sports that will feature at the 2012 Games including boccia, tennis, basketball and table tennis.

They will be demonstrated by local clubs and visitors will have the chance to join in and try the sports for themselves. Naidex South also provides disabled visitors with a great opportunity to test out their route to ExCeL before the Games, ensuring that they are well prepared to travel to the venue when the time comes to cheer on the British athletes.

"We are delighted that Naidex South will be showcasing Paralymic sports in October as part of their Paralympic feature. ExCeL London has been designed to be accessible for everyone and we work closely with our service partners including the DLR to ensure that all visitors are able to participate at events held here. ExCeL London is looking forward to playing our part in the Paralympics when we host six Paralympic Sports in 2012"" commented James Mark, Services & 2012 Games Director, ExCeL London.
