High-speed catamaran Venus Clipper becomes the 19th vessel in MBNA Thames Clippers’ fleet. The 220-capacity boat represents a £4 million investment for London’s River Bus operator in this its 20th year of operation, serving the capital’s commuters and visitors. The new boat is London’s most versatile high speed vessel with access to over 25 piers across the capital.
Venus Clipper provides event organisers with unique transfer and sightseeing opportunities for large groups with panoramic views of London, whilst offering a fully licensed bar, 70 tabled seats, an outside back deck and various options for AV and branding on board.
This is great news for our customers and their visitors, exhibitors and delegates. With the opening of Royal Wharf Pier on schedule to open this summer, our visitors will be able to arrive and depart either by MBNA Thames Clippers’ scheduled RB1 service or via charter; with options ranging from a 12-seater executive launch to the new Venus Clipper with her 220-capacity.
The new pier, situated in the Royal Docks and a short walk or transfer from ExCeL London, is part of the Royal Wharf development by Ballymore and Oxley. With projected journey times from Royal Wharf Pier on RB1 of 28 minutes to Canary Wharf, 40 minutes to Tower and around 1 hour to Embankment (less via direct charter); this is a fantastic new option to travel by river. Until the new pier opens, the current river option remains of travelling with MBNA Thames Clippers to North Greenwich Pier before crossing with Emirates Air Line cable car.
