Jeremy Rees, Exhibition Sales Director, ExCeL London said: "WorldSkills London 2011 will be the largest event ExCeL London has ever held. The competition, spectator and Have a Go areas will take over every available square metre of the venue. We are delighted that the WorldSkills London 2011 organising committee chose ExCeL London to host this magnificent competition, the first time that London has ever hosted the event in the 61 year history of WorldSkills. It will be a great showcase for London and ExCeL a year before we host the 2012 Olympics. London is the best connected city in the world, making it very easy for the competitors and their supporters to take part from all over the world".
Rees continued: "To help the organising team create the best possible experience for competitors and spectators the ExCeL London team are connecting the WorldSkills team with the fantastic supporters we have here in our local area such as City Airport as well as many of the local area hotels, bars and restaurants to ensure a fantastic welcome experience is received by everybody."
Aidan Jones, Executive Director of WorldSkills London 2011 said "We are delighted to be able to bring WorldSkills to London for the first time. The event will showcase world class skills that are essential to a healthy and productive economy, allowing people to recognise the value of these skills to society. With ExCeL London, we are committed to working together to ensure we deliver an outstanding event and a lasting benefit for London and the whole of the UK. We have already received very positive feedback about our preparations from the WorldSkills International Team Leader Working Group that was recently hosted in London and visited ExCeL London."
