Eastern promise: moving an event

Learning Technologies 2019

Event overview

Learning Technologies has been Europe's leading showcase of organisational learning and technology used to support learning at work, since 2000. Packed with the latest learning technologies, innovation and best practice, the event is a unique and exciting environment for all those involved in workplace learning.

A new home

After a hugely successful 19 years, Learning Technologies had out-grown its west London home.  The organising team took the decision to move, putting in place a robust relocation plan in consultation with the team at ExCeL. The objective was to retain the personality and ethos of the event whilst demonstrating a new dynamic as far as space and aesthetic were concerned. The move was prompted by exhibitor desire to expand their footprint, accommodating increasingly high visitor numbers and the need for a dynamic conference environment connected with the exhibition space.

Flexible event space

The Learning Technologies Conference was held in the Platinum Suite, separate to the exhibition halls. The proximity ensured a seamless flow of conference delegates visiting the exhibition, particularly as the lunch was served in the halls. The 14,000m2 of open floor space created a dynamic floor plan with room for exhibitors to expand their footprint and create more ambitious stand designs. The high ceilings also enabled suspended banners amplifying the brand and dressing the space with clear signage.

“We are delighted with the performance of Learning Technologies 2019. The event continues to grow in importance, value and attendance. This year at ExCeL was no different. Despite our apprehension about the move after such a long time at our previous home, our concerns were unfounded. The support from the ExCeL team was exceptional from menu recommendations to use of space and seamless event management. We’re looking forward to a highly successful event in 2020,”
