ExCeL scoops Best Venue honours for second year running

30 March 2023

ExCeL London walked away with one of the top honours at this year's Exhibition News Awards, winning the coveted ‘Best UK Venue over 8,000sqm’ category for the second consecutive year.

Held at the Royal Docks venue and hosted by comedian Emmanuel Sonubi, the awards aim to recognise and reward the efforts of the events industry throughout the past 12 months.

Judges were particularly impressed with ExCeL’s commitment to investment through its infrastructure and expansion programmes, being the first UK venue to be certified carbon neutral to PAS 2060 standards and its wide range of events, including the recent Jurassic World: The Exhibition, ICE London and Formula E World Championship.

It is now the fourth time ExCeL has won EN's Best Venue award, with members of the team, led by CEO Jeremy Rees, taking to the stage to collect the winning trophy.

The venue was also shortlisted for the Best Operations Team award, whilst ADNEC Group was shortlisted for Best International Venue.

The evening also saw Clarion Events CEO Lisa Hannant receive the Pioneer of the Year Award which was sponsored by ExCeL.

Exhibition News Editor Emily Wallin commented on the night: “Every one of these winners has overcome unbelievable obstacles whilst truly innovating in ways that will continue to help the whole events sector grow, and everyone here at Exhibition News is delighted to celebrate their amazing achievement with them.”
