Mobility Scooter/Wheelchair Terms and Conditions

By accessing or hiring a mobility scooter or wheelchair (collectively referred to as the ‘equipment’) from ExCeL London, I agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

As the hirer and/or on behalf of a minor or person under my care, I confirm that I am a minimum of 16 years old and I fully understand and accept the following conditions of hire:

1. A security deposit may be required before renting the equipment. The deposit amount will be communicated to me at the time of reservation, and the security deposit will be returned upon the satisfactory return of the equipment, provided that there are no damages to the equipment.
2. I agree to provide valid identification, such as a driver's license or passport, as proof of identity and address. Failure to provide valid identification will result in the inability to proceed with the hire process.
3. I agree to take reasonable care of the equipment during the rental period and to return it in the same condition as received. I am responsible for any damage to the equipment during the rental period.
4. I will return the equipment no later than 30 minutes before the Venue closes, In the event of failure to return the hired equipment by the agreed-upon date and time, I will be subject to additional charges and be liable for legal action.
5. I will NOT take the equipment out of the ExCeL London Venue. Further, I will NOT remove the equipment from the Venue (which includes the car park area).
6. I will use the equipment at my own risk.
7. I will NOT use the equipment without an able-bodied carer if I suffer from any condition which could impede my ability to safely use the equipment.
8. The management of ExCeL London retains the right to refuse or cancel the hire of the equipment.
9. I will be responsible for the cost of damage to the equipment caused by me whilst the equipment is in my possession.
10. I will be liable for any injury or damage to any person or property as a result of, or in the course of, my use of the equipment. I agree that ExCeL London shall not be liable for any injuries, damages, or losses arising from the use or misuse of the equipment during the rental period.
11. I will indemnify ExCeL London against any claims, liabilities, or expenses as a result of, or in the course of, my use of the equipment.
12. I will NOT sit anyone else on the equipment during my hire session.
13. I will NOT let anyone else operate the equipment.
14. I will only use lifts to access the different levels within the Venue and will not attempt to use stairs or escalators.
15. I will not place items on the handles of the equipment or place anything weighing over 3 kgs in or on the equipment.
16. I will make sure that I remove the key and take this with me to avoid unauthorised use.
17. I will NOT alter the equipment in any way (i.e. by removing footrests, calf straps or any other fixed item currently on the equipment).
18. I confirm that I understand and acknowledge that the designated weight limit of the mobility scooter is 115kg and the designated weight limit of the wheelchairs is 115kg together with a limited number of wheelchairs with a designated weight limit of 317kg.
19. All personal data submitted to ExCeL London will at all times be processed pursuant to the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation and in accordance with ExCeL London’s Privacy Notice, a copy of which is available on request and on the ExCeL London website.
20. ExCeL London reserves the right to change these terms and conditions from time to time and without notice.
21. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
